November 22, 1972. A second amendment is made to "The Mental Health Act," defining "Mental Disorder." This is defined as a "lack of reason or lack of control of behaviour." At this point, there is a subtle shift in wording that has "person suffering from a mental disorder" used more frequently than "mentally disordered person."
The original Act was passed in 1964, and an amendment related to excluding persons acting out of "promiscuity or other immoral conduct" from a "mentally disordered" person was passed in 1968. A final amendment was made to "The Mental Health Act" in 1988.
