July 6, 1988. The final amendment to "The Mental Health Act" of Alberta, Canada is made, redefining "mental disorder" entirely. "Mental disorder" is redefined as "a substantial disorder of thought, mood, perception or memory that grossly impairs
i) judgment,
ii) behaviour,
iii) capacity to recognize reality, or ability to meet the ordinary demands of life."
The original Act was created in 1964, with amendments in 1968, and 1972.
