September 15, 1927. An article titled “Alberta Is Giving Dominion Leadership in Mental Hygiene” was published by The United Farmers of Alberta. The article comments on the Canadian National Committee on Mental Hygiene’s (CNCMH) response to Western Canada’s efforts regarding mental hygiene. The article quotes a report made by the CNCMH in their official Bulletin, approving and supporting all that was being done to deal with the mentally deficient; the province of Alberta was considered a leader in the field amongst Canadian provinces. B.C. and each of the prairie provinces were discussed individually followed by comments on what preventative measures were to take place next. This article demonstrates how eugenic thought was often discussed in media.
