March 26, 1927. An article titled “Sterilization of Defectives Before House” appeared in the Edmonton Bulletin, discussing the reading of the sterilization bill in legislature. The article reports that the sterilization bill was introduced to the House the previous evening (March 25, 1927) by George Hoadley, the Minister of Health. The bill was pushed by Hoadley, but met with resistance from the government who wanted more time to discuss the bill between sessions and pass the bill on to a second reading. It is noted that the British Columbia government also considered a similar bill and the importance of the bill was, again, stressed.
